How to Apply False Eyelashes

(Photo: Caro's Lines)
This is the second article in a three-part series.  For general tips on false eyelashes, see my post, "Flawless False Eyelashes."  For removal instructions, see "How to Remove False Eyelashes."

Applying strips:
  1. Remove one lash from the package.
  2. "Try on" the lash by placing it over the natural lashes and assessing the length.
  3. Cut off any lashes that extend beyond the natural lash line, or remove more if just applying lashes to the outer corners.  Be sure to cut right next to the lashes so no clear portions of the strips will irritate the eye.
  4. Place a bead of eyelash adhesive on the end of a makeup brush.
  5. Gently run the strip of the lashes through the glue, lightly coating the length of the strip as well as the ends.
  6. Wait until the glue is tacky, usually about 10-20 seconds.
  7. While the eye is slightly open, place the eyelash strip as close to the natural lashes as possible, without gluing it to the natural lashes.
  8. Press in place using a cotton swab or the end of a clean makeup brush.
  9. Use your fingers to adjust the direction of the lashes, if necessary, to the desired angle.
  10. Repeat steps 1-9 with the second eye.

Applying individual lashes:
  1. Pour out a few drops of Lashtite onto a palette.
  2. Remove an individual lash with tweezers and dip the knot into the Lashtite.
  3. Wait until the glue is tacky, usually about 10-20 seconds.
  4. While the eye is slightly open, place the eyelash as close to the natural lashes as possible, without gluing it to the natural lashes.
  5. Use tweezers to adjust the placement and angle of the lash as it dries.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 and apply as many lashes as you'd like.
  7. Apply individual lashes to the second eye, matching the placement used for the first eye.
