Review: ShiKai Moisturizing Shower Gel

I will always have a soft spot for ShiKai. This shower gel was one of the first items I tried as I made the transition to cruelty-free beauty products. I recently had the chance to try it again, with their latest formulation. I was glad to see that the ShiKai Moisturizing Shower Gel still offered the same great performance I'd come to expect from the line.

Pros:
  • Great texture (thick gel)
  • Lovely scents
  • Contains some organic ingredients
  • A little goes a long way
  • Attractive packaging
  • Widely available at many health food stores and other retailers
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Could be more natural
Summary:
ShiKai Moisturizing Shower Gel is still one of favorite products. The performance is very similar to conventional products and one bottle lasts me for an entire season. It's great to have a product readily available in stores that is also affordably priced. The only drawback to this product is that it rates about a 4 on the EWG Skin Deep database. While this may be weighted heavily by the inclusion of fragrance, there are also a few other ingredients that have higher hazard ratings. I'd like to see this formula made even gentler. However, it's hard to beat the performance and longevity of this product. If you're looking to transition away from conventional products or are fond of ShiKai's scents, I'd recommend trying this shower gel.
