Review: Eco Lips Gold Unflavored Lip Balm

Eco Lips makes a variety of lip balms, including delicious flavors and even a vegan option. If you're not one for fancy flavors but want the purest ingredients, they offer Eco Lips Gold, a 95% organic balm with "the finest certified organic baobab oil." It is unflavored and free from SPF, making it gentle enough for anyone.

Pros:
  • Creamy, melty texture
  • 95% organic
  • Unflavored
  • Affordable
  • Includes Fair Trade Certified cocoa butter
Cons:
  • May have to order online
Summary:
This lip balm has a soft texture that melts on my lips when applied. It is very hydrating and seems to last longer than more waxy balms. I love how it is unflavored and has no SPF. This makes it great for using any time of day without worrying about flavors conflicting with your toothpaste, lip color, or next meal. I haven't seen this particular balm in my local retail stores, but it is offered online at a low price and Eco Lips offers nominal shipping fees. I was pleased to see that the current formulation, with so many organic and gentle ingredients, rates a 0 (the safest) on the EWG Skin Deep database. However, I would still love to see more Eco Lips balms converted to vegan-friendly versions. If you know a lip balm lover who is passionate about organic, I recommend checking out Eco Lips Gold.
