Review: Smart Girls Who Surf After Sun Soothing Lotion

Unless you live in a cave, you've probably spent a little too much time in the sun at some point in your life. Sometimes my skin feels tingly and a little irritated after sun exposure, even when I wear sunscreen. Smart Girls Who Surf makes a product to cool and calm your skin once you're back inside: After Sun Soothing Lotion.

Pros:
  • Non-greasy
  • Absorbs quickly
  • Soothes sun-exposed skin
  • Light, fruity fragrance
  • Made with organic aloe
Cons:
  • May be hard to find locally
Summary:
This lotion feels great on my skin after I've been in the sun. I like how the fruity scent is light and not overpowering. The formula itself is light and feels weightless. I was a little bit disappointed to see that this rated around a 4 on EWG's Skin Deep database, though this was due to the use of an unidentified fragrance on my version (which the company claims is actually all-natural organic orange essential oils in the latest formula). I suspect this rating my be exaggerated, and the product is probably safer than reported via EWG. However, I would love to see the ingredients listed on the Smart Girls online store. I haven't seen this line locally (in Austin, Texas), but they do have a retail presence in several states, especially California. If you're looking for a soothing lotion after sun exposure, this is a nice option.
