Review: Ferro Cosmetics Ultimate Foundation

Loose powder foundations are one of the most popular natural products in the cosmetics industry. I've tried dozens, and many are essentially the same. Ferro Cosmetics' Ultimate Mineral Foundation is a standout foundation in the loose powder category because it is both gentle and has good coverage after just applying one layer.

Pros:
  • Weightless feel
  • Provides more coverage than most mineral foundations
  • Helps balance out skin tones
  • Available in a variety of shades
  • Gentle formula
Cons:
  • May need to reapply throughout the day
Summary:
I loved how, with the foundation, I could see a real difference after the first application. My skin tone became more even, yet the formula still felt weightless. It should be noted, however, that this lightweight formula will need to be reapplied at least once during the day. Applying to a moisturized and primed face will help, but, as with most natural products, a reapplication is essential to maintaining a flawless face. I appreciated how this rated a low 2 on EWG's Skin Deep scale, but I would love to see the powder reformulated to be vegan-friendly (it currently contains both silk and pearl powders). Also, I would like to see a pressed formulation as well, since the current container isn't well-suited to the rigors of air travel. Otherwise, I was impressed with the performance of this product and was glad to see that it was gluten-free.
