Review: Ren Skincare Rosa Centifolia Facial Cleansing Gel

I was sent several products to review by the skin care line REN, which I had initially seen in a Sephora store. Although REN's products were priced higher than other lines, I wanted to put them to the test to see if they performed better or were more gentle than the competitors. One of the products I tried was their Rose Centifolia Facial Cleansing Gel.

Pros:
  • Left face feeling clean but not dry
  • Gentle on sensitive skin
  • Light rosy scent
  • Relatively gentle ingredients
Cons:
  • Fairly expensive ($32 for 5 oz)
Summary:
This facial cleansing gel had a lovely rose scent; it is likely both from the rose water (much more expensive to use than regular water) and the "natural" fragrance. This fragrance, along with a couple of other ingredients (two of which are naturally occurring due to the use of essential oils), give this product and EWG rating of around a 5, which is pretty high for a natural product. However, they claim that it is a natural fragrance, something the EWG doesn't currently account for in their ratings.

Regarding the performance, it was a gentle cleanser that didn't dry my face. It isn't a lathering cleanser, but it was effective all the same. For the price, I'm honestly not sure that this is a better buy than other competitors, but it seems like it is a good solid cleanser, if you like the scent roses and are willing to spend a little more.
