Review: E.L.F. Cosmetics Mineral Eye Liner

When I was traveling to Japan for 10 days, I simplified my beauty routine to the essentials. I couldn't imagine going without eyeliner, but I wondered which one to choose. I had some great pencil liners, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of sharpening while traveling. Which eyeliner did I bring? E.L.F. Mineral Eye Liner, which comes in a handy twist-up tube.

Pros:
  • Handy twist tube applicator
  • Smooth and creamy
  • Very affordable
  • Available in five shades
  • No sharpening
  • Gentle formula
Cons:
  • Will migrate onto eyelids if too much is applied
Summary:
I tested this eye liner in black. The color was very consistent and smooth. It also smudges well, which is nice in case you want to use it as a contour eye shadow shade for a night out. Without eye shadow primer, the color lasted about 6-8 hours. The formula is quite gentle, rating a low 1 on the EWG Skin Deep database. My only real complaint is that sometimes, if I applied it too thickly, the liner would migrate into my eye lid creases throughout the day. I suspect this wouldn't happen if I applied more thinly and/or wore primer, but I was going for a minimal beauty routine. Otherwise, it is a great liner for the price. Kudos to E.L.F. for making such a gentle liner, and in a fun variety of colors.
