Review: Haut Minerals Smooth Things Over Brush

When using a liquid foundation or concealer, it's important to choose a suitable brush. Fluffy brushes are great for powders, but slick brushes are better for creams and liquids. Look for one with vegan bristles, such as the Smooth Things Over brush from Haut Minerals.

Pros:
  • Vegan taklon bristles
  • Light, slick touch
  • Versatile size for foundations or concealers
  • Fits easily inside a travel bag
  • Washes up well
Cons:
  • May be hard to find locally
Summary:
This brush is a nice, versatile size. It is small enough to be used for concealer, but large enough to cover broader areas when using a foundation. The bristles measure about 1" by 5/8" and it is about 6" long. This makes it a nice size for travel as well. I love how it has a light touch, which helps foundations (such as Haut's BB Cream) to go on sheer and not too heavy. I was also very glad to see that it is made of vegan taklon bristles, so you can be sure it's cruelty-free. This brush seems to be well constructed and washes up well. The manufacturer recommends washing with an SLS-free shampoo, but it washed up well using my method as well. If you're looking for a dual foundation and concealer brush made of quality vegan materials, Haut's Smooth Things Over is a nice option.
